Chapter Philanthropy
Each member of the Delta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma has committed many hours in supporting our national and local philanthropy, as well as supporting the Greek community and their philanthropies as well. Our National Philanthropy has shifted focus to the importance of Mental Health and Well-being in and on college campuses and young adults. We have specifically chosen Active Minds as our chapters national philanthropy. Active Minds has a chapter on Oklahoma States Campus and we work hand in hand with them to fight the stigma surrounding mental health. Kappa at Oklahoma State has also recently adopted a new local philanthropy: The American Heart Association. We chose this foundation to allocate our time and resources to because of the impact it has had personally on our chapter and our members and their families.
Every year we have two events that we put on to raise money to contribute to the Kappa Foundation, American Heart Association, and Mental Health and Well-being: Active Minds. The first event is held in the fall, which is called "Chips and Cheese with KKG's." Our members host a taco eating competition and serve Fuzzy's to the community. The money that is raised from Chips and Cheese is contributed back to our local philanthropy, The American Heart Association.
In the spring, we host an event called Kappa Kupcakes. We have hundreds of cupcakes, both homemade and from bakeries around Stillwater, refreshments, music, and games! This event is for raising money for all three of our philanthropies.
